Adjacent to Busch Gardens Africa , Adventure Island first opened in 1980 and features 30 acres of thrilling waterslides and other attractions such as a wave pool and children’s water playground. Don’t miss the Rambling Bayou lazy river ride, Endless Surf wave pool and waterslides with names like “Calypso Coaster,” “Runaway Rapids,” “Wahoo Run,” “Gulf Scream” and “Paradise Lagoon.” The premises include sunbathing and picnic areas, outdoor cafes, video arcades, gift shops and a championship white-sand volleyball complex. Dining options at Adventure Island include Bayou Beach Club, Gulf Scream Ice Cream, Mango Joe’s, Surfside Cafe and Surfside Ice Cream.

Admission to Adventure Island Tampa for 2008 is $35.95 for adults and $33.95 for ages 3-9. Seasonal hours; call ahead before visiting.
