Last year’s Clearwater races saw huge crowds turn out to Clearwater Beach, where an estimated 50,000 people on over 2,500 boats lined the beaches of the 2.5-mile-long race course. Beaches were lined 20 deep with beach-going spectators while others watched from the comfort of hotels, restaurants and condos along the beach. Crowds for last year’s event were estimated upwards of 90,000 with the total for the entire weekend surpassing 180,000!
The races and festival brought a much needed boost to area tourism, according to the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce.
