Once known as the “Cigar Capital of the World,” Ybor City is one of just three National Historic Landmark Districts in Florida. It is now home to a variety of specialty shops, nightlife, cafes and restaurants such as the world-famous Columbia Restaurant, which first opened its doors in 1905. Don’t miss the fascinating Ybor City Museum, which features authentic cigar rolling demonstrations, restored cigar workers’ houses and an ornamental garden. The Ybor City Museum is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM. Admission is $3 (free for ages 6 and under).
Annual events in and around Ybor City include the Gasparilla Night Parade, Guavaween, Rough Rider’s St. Patrick’s Night Parade, Sant’Yago Knight Parade and Tampa Cigar Heritage Festival. To reach Ybor City, take Exit 1 off Interstate 4 and go South on 21st Street.
